So here is my cable TV to laptop epiphany..
Even though I’m not proud of it, I have to admit it – I watch TV alot! I like watching TV series like House M.D. and Lost, I like reality shows like Survivor and The Apprentice, I’m a sports fan, especially football, basketball and tennis and sometimes I even get into the National Geographic mood. Of course, there’s always a night or two for movies every week, so I can’t live without Cinemax and HBO either.
Sitting all day long in front of the TV is for sure a really unhealthy habit, but what I’ve discovered in March this year is that it’s also a really expensive habit!
I used to pay 72$ for my cable TV, plus extra 34$ for the sports pack and the movie pack (including HBO, HBO Comedy, Cinemax and others). Besides these, I still had to download Lost and House from torrent sites (not really legal stuff). So after all I was paying more than 100$ for my cable TV and still didn’t get all the channels I wanted (CBS, Channel 4 and others).
So guess what happened? That’s right! I ran out of money! And that’s when I started looking for an alternative solution.
So here is what I needed:
- Something either very cheap, or even better free
- All the channels I usually watch
- HD quality
- And most of all mobility
This is how I’ve discovered cable TV to laptop. Over 4 500 HD channels worldwide streaming live over the Internet right to my laptop.
So here is a selection of the 3 best providers and what I like and what I dislike about each of them:
Advantages
- Price: $49.95 One time fee, free for life afterwards.
- 100% Legal
- NO extra hardware needed. (just your laptop and Internet connection)
- Works worldwide
- Good customer service (they answer all questions promptly)
Disadvantages
- Only about 1000 channels
- Important channels like Channel 4, CBS and National Geographic are misssing
- Doesn’t work on MAC
Advantages
- Price: $49.95 One time fee, free for life afterwards.

- They have channels from all the countries in the world – 3 500 HD channels in total!!!
- Works on MAC
- You have access to all the channels you might want (including HBO, Cinemax)
Disadvantages
- The only thing that I can say doesn’t work that well at Satellite Direct is customer service. I guess they have they are overloaded with clients and they answer questions at a very slow rate. However, I only had a few questions for them before purchasing, but then it all went smooth and can’t complain about anything else regarding cable TV to laptop.

All these 3 work great! All you need is you laptop and an Internet connection. These cable TV to laptop cost less than 50$ and you only pay once. I frankly think there is no better deal than choosing one of these 3. If you have a laptop running on Windows I would choose Stream Direct. If you need a program running on MAC however go for the Satellite Direct.
Waiting for your comments,
